The final Comprehensive Examination deadlines for Fall and Spring are: 

Fall final submission deadlines: 
Comprehensive Exam forms need to be submitted to Graduate Studies no later than December 20, 2021 in order to meet the Office of the Registrar's deadline for Fall grades which is December 22. 

Spring final submission deadlines: 
Comprehensive Exam forms need to be submitted to Graduate Studies no later than May 13, 2022, in order to meet the Office of the Registrar's deadline for Spring grades which is May 18. 

Process:

  • Some graduate programs require a comprehensive examination rather than a thesis or project. Some programs offer comprehensive examinations as one of the options for culminating experiences.

  • Students who complete a comprehensive examination will work with their advisor or graduate coordinator to set up a time and location to complete the examination.

UPCOMING DEADLINES 

August

-         Aug. 18 - Graduate Studies student orientation

-         Aug. 19 - E&C program student orientation

-         Aug. 22 – Deadline to withdraw from fall semester and receive a full refund of fees, less $27 administrative charge

September 6

  •  Deadline: last day to add, drop, or withdraw without approval of a serious and compelling reason
  •  Deadline to register for EC 693 without a late fee (must meet eligibility requirements).
  •  Deadline to file Application for Advancement to Candidacy & Graduation (master's degree) for Spring 2022 without a late fee.

     § All students who will be gathering personal information about living humans in the course of research for their thesis or project are required to complete the approval process for using human subjects in research prior to advancement to candidacy.

  • Deadline to file for an Educational Leave for the semester
  • Oct. 25 – Deadline to request permission to withdraw from fall semester and be eligible to receive a prorated refund of fees, less a $27 administrative charge. Permission to withdraw and documentation of a serious and compelling reason are required. (Online form here.)  
  • Oct. 31 - Planning to graduate this semester? By end of October, submit thesis/project draft to full committee (with approval of chair). 

         Have you made any changes to your thesis committee or course list since you submitted your Advancement to Candidacy paperwork? Submit a Request for Program Variation or Waiver

  • Nov. 8-19 – Early registration for spring 2022
  • Nov. 29 - Deadline to submit for a courtesy thesis format review
  •  Late November – Planning to graduate this semester? Oral defense in late November, followed by final revisions (if necessary).
  •  Late November through Dec. 17 – Not going to graduate this semester as originally planned? Submit a Graduation Date Change Request to avoid a late fee. 

-         Dec. 13 – Final thesis/project submission deadline
